Pilgrims Group guarding officer, Andrew George, has won the National Officer Gold Award in the security company’s annual ceremony, which rewards excellence among the security teams who protect the premises of major corporate clients.

The Pilgrims Manned Guarding Awards, which took place at the Holiday Inn, Woking, this May, saw ten individual officers and three teams win accolades for their dedication, innovation and willingness to go the extra mile. George, who works with the company’s Frimley team for a leading pharmaceutical client, won the award for his consistent professionalism, his 100% attendance record and his calm discretion in unfamiliar and challenging situations. Other winners included Garry Armstrong (National, Silver), Chris Piponias (National, Bronze) and the Grimsby team (Team, Gold).

“Andrew has consistently presented himself in a professional manner. He has a positive, can do attitude and a willingness to take on all tasks,” says Des Ewers, Contract Development Manager of Pilgrims UK Guarding London & Southern Division. “He provides not only a security presence but a friendly and familiar face to the client and their staff. Andrew is well respected within his team by both his line manager and peers and regularly steps forward to cover additional shifts for annual leave and sickness, doing his bit to ensure continuity of service is maintained. An asset to the contract and to Pilgrims, Andrew George is a deserved winner of this Regional and National Gold.”

Pilgrims COO, David Freear, added: “These awards are about recognising individuals who have delivered an extremely high level of service to our clients. Apart from identifying those who have been trustworthy, reliable and committed, we pay particular attention to guards who have provided the highest levels of customer service and those who go beyond the call of duty to add value to what we and our clients do. It’s a pleasure being able to recognise and reward them.”
